Not as good as I thought it would be. Most of the restaurants are generic with low quality food. The exceptions are The Ship and Crown and another one a little further along whose name I have forgotten but which serves Michelin Star quality food. The bus service to the rest of the island is excellent and the drivers are like tourist guides. They are so friendly and helpful. Personally, buses are the best way to get around Guernsey. Bikes are OK, but definitely not car. Shops and cafes are a bit basic. The best thing about Guernsey by far is the south coast which should be discovered by taking the bus to the start (or halfway) and walking the rest of the way. Many of the secluded beaches and bays can only be reached by foot and one only has ladder access. Stunning scenery at every turn.

St Peter Port is lovely lively as long as you can cope with the steep slopes. Plenty of fish restaurants , we ate at Pier 17 and several smaller cafes . Lots of history to take in ,the local people are very friendly. An excellent bus service. The Millennium tapestry is fascinating and there is the castle too. We were lucky enough to be there for liberation day ,A public holiday with a parade through the town and a service of remembrance.... A colourful fun relaxed day with everyone enjoying a public holiday.

Plenty of small independent shops, interesting lanes and alleys. Constant activity in the extensive harbour. A range of eateries all along the esplanade with great views., picked a different ones night. Everything easily accessible on foot (if you don't mind hills and cobbles!).
Too much scaffolding and major building work: maybe finished by summer?

Nothing was too much trouble polite courteous staff.
Nothing was too much trouble polite courteous staff. Perfect in every way so much so I extended my stay over New Year. Unfortunately didn’t have a mobility room, wet room, but agreed for me to use the pool disabled facilities for which I was most grateful.
In fact the staff were so welcoming I felt like royalty.
The breakfast buffet was 1st class with so many options. I did have the full English breakfast one day only as the food wasn’t as hot as it should have been so ordered of the specials menu.
Cost, location, hot water heater for tea/coffee, breakfast baskets, Information binder, area resource information (Tours, things to do in and around the area, bus schedules), ease of getting to bus stop, and most of all the friendly morning staff. I also liked that other guests respected the need to be quiet in the evenings. Rather than a hotel or guest house it felt more like a dorm room…one can hear everyone coming and going and even talking in their rooms. I was out a lot so It met my needs for a place to rest.
The staff are very helpful and friendly, they will really make you feel welcome. The view from the hotel is amazing, both from the outside, the restaurant and from the rooms! It's also clear a lot of effort was put into the hotel decor and signage. The dessert bar is a great idea as it's much easier to choose when you can see what everything looks like. The bus route 81 also provides easy access right from the hotel door to the town terminus in St Peter Port.
I have been staying at this hotel since 1976 so have seen the improvements over the years. However, with this current heatwave and although fans were provided in the bedrooms, would the management review if at night, there were any upper floor fire exits that could be opened to allow some cooler night air through the bedroom corridors - thank you.
The spacious rooms and glorious garden give you a sense of calm and graciousness. The staff are wonderful, and have a personal touch towards their guests I would normally associate with very expensive hotels. There are plenty of waiters, so you are served immediately. The location is quiet at night, so you can sleep.
central location, easy walk to shops (downhill), but uphill on the way back
the hotel restaurant food (pickled pig), is exceptional! i believe it has a michelin star, we have not eaten such good food for years! lovely staff in all areas. great to have a bathtub!
very clean and comfortable, had a great stay
The staff were all so helpful and professional. Couldn't fault any of them. Especially Martin at breakfast.
Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice. Great food.
Location of hotel was perfect to explore St Peter Port and to walk to ferries for Herm and Sark
Beautiful old building. Very well kept.
The view from the room was superb, on the top of the hill overlooking the sea and the Cornet castle
The room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable
The breakfast is an experience - not the usual continental hotel breakfast, it is much more elevated and it has an extended hot menu to choose from
The staff were so friendly and the room was spotless, Nothing was to much for the staff to help you, Also my Full English breakfast in the morning was fantastic..The Hotel was a perfect location for the town centre St Peter Port
A 10 mins walk ..Plus it was only a 15 mins cab ride from the airport.
Any one going to Guernsey should look up this hotel, the stay was very pleasant with lovely sea view, staff very helpful , breakfast is a must the lovely selection basket included cereals fruit, drinks, croissants, jams etc, easy walking distance to St Peter Port and bus terminus

A wonderful view from the room with beautiful balcony.Breakfast was excellent and served by attentive and friendly staff. We also had an evening meal at the hotel which was delicious and all meals served in the reaturant that had superb views over St Peter Port and the harbour.
Plenty of room in the bedroom king size bed great view it was the premiere room in the hotel to dress in areas separate toilet separate bathroom with bath and shower double sink. Supplies slippers dressing gowns tea coffee water and sparkling water what more could you want.
The refurbishment has been executed very well. Extremely comfortable good looking hotel. Friendly staff. Superb breakfast. Great choice of beer. Far and away exceeds all the 4 star hotels we’ve stayed in in Guernsey. Will highly recommend to friends.
The presentation of the hotel was excellent. The staff were very helpful and front of house were particularly informative and pleasant. It is situated in a quiet part of St Peter Port but just a few minutes walk into town.
Exceptionally helpful and professional staff. The hotel and everything it was spotlessly clean. It is in a fantastic location. It is very good value for money in comparison to hotels in the same category.
The staff were exceptional, polite friendly and very helpful. The hotel is in the heart of St Peter Port and in easy reach to the shops and restaurants The Pickled Pig restaurant serves really good food
Good breakfast with staff always available and eager to serve everyone. We had a room at the top with great view and we could walk to St. Peter Port easily. The room was clean.
