Negril is the more laid back part of Jamaica.
Negril is the more laid back part of Jamaica. It is quiet, especially up in West End and the cliffs. So there you are not right on a beach but up on cliffs you can jump from or coves you can take a
ladder down to swim. There are small markets and many mom-and-pop restaurants you can walk to. And lots of locals homes with their gardens and grazing animals.
The beach area of Negril is flat and sandy. Depending on where you stay, you can be at a small place on the beach and walk to stores, town restaurants and small beach restaurants. Or, you can stay at an all inclusive and never leave the property.
We like Negril better than Ocho Rios ( but seeing Dunns Falls and Bob Marley’s home in Ocho Is a must) We like Negril because of its less touristy feel.
If you’re here without children, you should split your time between beach and cliffs.

I absolutely loved our vacation in Negril!
I absolutely loved our vacation in Negril! I loved the cliffs and beach, the food, locals, scenery but I would’ve preferred to stay at another hotel. The restaurants were amazing and the sea was breathtaking. Can’t wait to return.
Especially to rock house!

Negril never disappoints, there are so many great cooks, everywhere. You can literally eat anywhere. We rent a car but taxis are a great way to get around to the beautiful beach. Talk to the locals get out of your hotel and explore.

Way past the large all-inclusive resorts, Negril is full of smaller and well maintained properties, guest houses, restaurants. Not so much an international cosmopolitan playground as an honest Jamaican setting.

The hotel is very very secluded and far from EVERYTHING.
The hotel is very very secluded and far from EVERYTHING. I almost thought we were lost trying to find the hotel.
The housekeeper is rude and impolite. The head housekeeper Alison made up for it though. Alison was sweet and kind, and went above and beyond to make up for her co-worker.
The bar/ restaurant servers were excellent. I loved all of the ladies.
Absolutely nothing as I didn't get the opportunity to use the apartment, although I booked it online via booking.com. On arrival to the apartment nobody was there to greet me, it then took 30 minutes for someone to come to the apartment only to tell me that they did not recieve a notification from booking.com regarding my stay. Needless to say, after the nonchalant, abrupt and rude response I received from the representative I booked elsewhere. Also its worth noting that the apartment is in the less desirable area of Negril.
Very well located, directly at beautiful Bloody Bay beach. Enough parking space, well-kept hotel area. We stayed for 5 nights in an Ocean View Junior Suite. The room was exactly as described, spacious, with ocean view and very clean. The variety of food during breakfast, lunch and dinner was good, the food was in general fresh and tasty (try the Jerk Chicken at the beach bar). Always enough sun loungers at the beach with palms. The staff of Riu Palace Tropical is pleasant and made that we felt well during our stay.
Fantastic location right on the most perfect sandy beach with the cleanest crystal clear water - and at the nice quiet end of the beach too, but easy to walk up to more restaurants , bars etc.
Nice very spacious apartment with comfy beds , good WiFi and modern TV and all you need.
In lovely lush well maintained gardens. Nice little bar and restaurant on the beach , with the usual food, it’s all about the same in Negril.
Really lovely friendly and helpful staff .
The beach access and the breakfast was the only good thing about the hotel. Great location but the place need much renovation. The staff was nice and the area is pleasant. Room was okay but the bathroom was horrible, water leaking all night and little hot water. We were only staying for one additional night so it didn’t make any sense to complain.
This hotel is the best in Jamaica! The views are AMAZING!!!! My couple and I saw the sunset from one of the infinity pools and was incredible. The staff is very nice and the food of the restaurant is amazing. We absolutely recommend this place to everyone.
it was a nice location close to things and the hotel people were nice. front desk ladies definitely kind too. everything looked very clean and well maintained. food was decent. seems like it’s better to get all inclusive if you come.
The property’s grounds were absolutely lovely and so was my room. The hotel is close to absolutely everything fun in Negril and the beach is right across the street. The hotel’s restaurant serves amazing thin crust pizza too!
The Beach is exceptional. The hotel lies on Negril 7 mile white sand beach. Shallow clear water. The Coral reef a few hundred yards out ensures calm water. Great Vibe. Staff is friendly, responsive and helpful
Beautiful resort gorgeous room French doors that open on to a patio on the beach, outstanding! Beds were very comfortable and the best shower I have ever had in 18 years of trips to Negril,
Beautiful building and people there are great! Do not expect an anonymous hotel complex :-) This is a great place to experience the jamaican culture. Thanks a lot, dear Solet!
